Metacaulk® Cover Guard™ Firestop is a single-component fire-rated gasket for use with electrical boxes when addressing the “24-inch rule.” It mounts on the inside of the cover plate and is installed with the cover plate, covering the opening and providing the necessary fire protection.

When exposed to heat, Cover Guard’s™ highly intumescent nature causes it to expand, forming a char that seals off the opening, prevents the spread of flames, and limits the temperature rise on unexposed surfaces.

Additionally, Cover Guard™ Firestop is hand-applied. As a result, it leaves volume available in the electrical box while replacing putty pads.
