The OVAL surface-mounted fire Extinguisher, 10-JABC, is best suited for hanging in an OVAL Fire Extinguisher Cabinet. The 10 HABC is best used as a surface-mounted extinguisher with a proprietary hook to hang it securely. When installed with a ligature-resistant cabinet, the Oval 10-JABC Fire Extinguisher is suitable for high-risk environments.
The OVAL Brand Low Profile Multi-Purpose Fire Extinguishers are revolutionary in design, solving several problems that have persisted for many years. Due to its slim design, it can easily fit into a standard 2 x 4 wall without using a semi-recessed or surface-mounted extinguisher cabinet. Oval Brand is the only fire extinguisher that consistently complies with the ADA, ICC, and IFC protruding-object requirements when surface-mounted.
Fights Class A (Wood, Paper, Cloth), Class B (Flammable Liquids and Gases), and Class C (Electrical Conductivity) fires.
OVAL Surface-Mounted Fire Extinguisher Features
- Application: Multi-purpose 10-lb. dry chemical fire extinguisher for wall and column mounting. This is for use on Class A, B, and C fires. Not recommended for use on sensitive electronic equipment.
- Mounting: The fire extinguisher may be mounted on a wall with its patented swivel hook. The hook holds the unit securely, even if bumped or pushed. Alternatively, it may be installed in a surface or recess-mounted cabinet. Due to the low profile of the fire extinguisher, a recessed cabinet can fit into a standard 3-5/8″ stud wall.
- Accessibility: Fire extinguisher depth is 3″. When a wall or column-mounted unit complies with the 4″ maximum limit for protruding objects as required by the Americans with Disability Acts (ADA0 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.
- Healthcare Facilities: Facilitates compliance with CMS accessibility requirements. When installed with a ligature-resistant cabinet, it is suitable for high-risk environments. It is certified as “MR Conditional” for safe use in environments with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment up to 3 Teslas.

Classes of Fire Protection
Class A Fires – Ordinary Combustibles
These fires are typically extinguished using water or dry chemical agents that cool and insulate the burning material. Class A fires involve common combustible materials such as:
- Paper
- Wood
- Cloth
- Cardboard
- Trash
Class B Fires – Flammable Liquids & Gases
These fires require fire extinguishers designed to smother flames and interrupt the chemical reaction of the fire. Class B fires involve flammable and combustible liquids, including:
- Gasoline
- Oil
- Paints
- Solvents
- Grease
Class C Fires – Electrical Equipment
Non-conductive fire extinguishing agents are essential for safely suppressing electrical fires without increasing the risk of electric shock. Class C fires occur in energized electrical equipment, such as:
- Electrical panels
- Wiring
- Computers
- Machinery
- Appliances
Class K Fires – Cooking Oils & Grease
These specialized fire extinguishers are designed to quickly suppress grease fires and help prevent re-ignition. Class K fires involve high-temperature cooking oils and grease commonly found in:
- Commercial kitchens
- Restaurants
- Food service facilities
