The Steel Network uses the StiffClip®HE Header Clip series to connect beams to columns or headers to jambs. StiffClip® HE’s design places stiffened ribs to prevent header ends from web crippling. StiffClip® HE transfers horizontal and large vertical loads from the beam to the column. It incorporates a small shelf tab to align the box header during installation.
The allowable design load table shown on the product data sheet is based on using StiffClip® when attached to various steel columns and beam material thicknesses and yield strengths. The engineer must select the minimum thickness and yield strength combination to determine the maximum design load. The #10 screws that fasten the clip to the steel beam and column members are included in the design loads listed below.
StiffClip® HE is available in two thicknesses. The StiffClip® HE(L) is 43mil (18ga), and the StiffClip® HE(H) is 68mil (14ga).
