The Karp Associates KRP-150FR Insulated Fire Rated Access Door is a flush-mounted access door that mounts easily in walls and ceilings. It comes standard with a paddle latch and keyed lock. All of Karp’s fire-rated access doors are keyed alike as a standard feature with the paddle latch. Lock options include a Rim cylinder.
The KRP-150 FR access door can be installed in walls and ceilings and is rated by Underwriters Laboratories for a 1.5-hour “B” label in walls and a 2-hour rating when installed in a wall assembly. Warnock Hersey rates the wall assembly for 3 hours on ceilings. The KRP 150FR-SS is also available in Stainless Steel.
KRP150-FR Fire-Rated Access Door Specification
- Door Frame: The door frame and trim shall be 16 gauge steel, 1″ wide.
- Door: It is made of 20 gauge steel, welded pan type, filled with 2″ thick fire-rated insulation, and shall open to 175°. It shall be self-latching with automatic closer and interior latch release.
- Hinge: Continuous piano hinge.
- Latches: The latch shall be a keyed paddle latch (keyed alike), or access doors shall be prepared for rim cylinder locks using our house lock or keyed to your system using an interchangeable core housing.
- Finish: White electrostatic powder, baked enamel.
- Finish Option: The KRP-150FR is also available in stainless steel.

KRP150-FR Fire-Rated Access Door Options
- The cylinder locking device provides keyed access from the outside of the door. The night latch also has a small thumb latch that keeps the spring latch retracted, allowing access at any time.
- Masonry straps secure Karp doors in masonry applications.
- Type 304 stainless steel is well-suited for exterior weather locations or interior hygienic locations such as hospitals, health care, pharmaceutical plants, research laboratories, and food processing facilities. Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, durable, and requires very little maintenance. Karp’s stainless steel access doors have a No. 4 satin finish, a general-purpose bright finish with a visible ‘grain” that prevents mirror reflection.
