The KDW Access Door is a universal, flush access door with a textured frame and bead so that the drywall joint compound can be applied in sufficient thickness to conceal the flange. Pre-punched holes in the flange facilitate fastening the flange to framing members with drywall screws.

KDW Access Door Specifications

• Door Frame: 16 gauge steel, and the door shall be 14 gauge steel.
• Door Trim: Galvanized steel drywall bead.
• Hinge: Pin type hinge, spring loaded, making door removable
• Locks: Flush and screwdriver operated with stainless steel cam and studs, or shall be key operated cylinder lock with automatic dust shutter.
• Finish: Prime coat of rust-inhibitive electrostatic powder, baked enamel.

KDW Access Door Options

• Type 304 stainless steel is well-suited for exterior weather or interior hygienic locations, such as hospitals, health care, pharmaceutical plants, research laboratories, and food processing facilities. Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, durable, and requires very little maintenance. Karp’s stainless steel access doors have a No. 4 satin finish, a general-purpose bright finish with a visible ‘grain” that prevents mirror reflection.
• Aluminum is ideal for any installations or environments that require a strong, lightweight, and rust-resistant access door.
• Plexiglass vision panel provides durable, long-lasting, and convenient viewing access to wall or ceiling contents.
• Louvers can be integrated into its door design to satisfy architectural and ventilation requirements.
• Safety chains are ideally suited for large access door ceiling installations. Safety Chains provide additional assurance by securing the door when it is unattended.
• Masonry straps secure the installation of Karp’s doors in masonry applications.
• Karp can manufacture access doors in double-leaf style to facilitate access and reduce door load.
• A 1/16″ x 3/8″ neoprene gasket can be added to the door, providing a tighter seal between the door and the door frame and protecting it from exposure to outside elements.

KDW Access Door Locking Options

• Combined with any lock manufacturer’s 1-18″ mortise cylinder lock, Karp’s mortise preparation provides the highest level of security. It is ideally suited for asylums, detention centers, or any environment where added durability and security are required.
• A cylinder locking device provides keyed access from the outside of the door. The night latch also has a small thumb latch that allows the spring latch to remain in a retracted position, allowing access at any time.
• The Spanner Head is an economical tamper-proof latching option.
• The Allen Head Security Latch is an economical, tamper-resistant latching mechanism that discourages theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entry because it cannot be opened without an Allen wrench.
• The Knob Turn Latch is finger operated and is beneficial when tools are not available or desirable for opening and closing the access door.
• A flush-mounted, keyless Paddle Latch has a finger pull that facilitates opening.
• The T-Handle Latch with 90° turn is available with or without a keyed-like cylinder lock.
• Combined with any lock manufacturer’s detention lock, Karp’s Detention Lock preparation provides maximum security. It is ideally suited for asylums, detention centers, or any environment where added durability and security are required.
• The economical cylinder locking device provides keyed access from the outside of the door.
