Firestopping
Firestop is designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke from penetrating openings in fire-rated walls, ceilings and floors. Ebuildingproducts offers different types of products designed for electric boxes, large openings, wall or ceiling open penetration and around pipes and any other openings in the walls or ceilings.
Intumescent firestop expands as heat rises to prevent the spread of heat, smoke and gases. It is easy to install and is available in caulking, sealants, and mastics that can be quickly and easily applied. Other firestopping can be hand molded to conform to your opening.
Metacaulk® Box Guard™ is inserted on the inside back wall of an electrical box and is a highly intumescent firestop material. It saves labor costs.
Metacaulk® Pipe Collars are an excellent option for applying firestop systems for PVC, CPVC, ABS, PVC foam core, ABS foam core, FRPP, PEX pipe, and electrical cable. They are also often used for radon mitigation because they are economical to install and no backfill is usually required, which is a requirement for radon mitigation.
